فیل در تاریکیThe Elephant in the Dark
Page 1. Merchants from India brought an elephant to a town. Because they had no bright place for it, they kept it in a dark room. The people had never seen an elephant, so they went inside to discover what it was like.
Page 2. One person touched the elephant’s trunk. “An elephant is like a long, curved water spout!” he said. He had touched only the trunk.
Page 3. Another person touched the elephant’s broad ear. “No, an elephant is like a great fan!” she said. She also knew only one part.
Page 4. A third person held the elephant’s strong leg. “You are mistaken. An elephant is like a sturdy pillar!” he said. He, too, had touched only one part.
Page 5. Someone else felt the elephant’s broad back. “An elephant is like a high throne!” he said. Each person described what they had touched, and they disagreed with one another.
Page 6. If a lamp had lit the room, everyone would have seen the whole elephant. Each person had found part of the truth, but not all of it. To understand better, we must look carefully and listen to one another.
