The enchantment of my eyes has led you astray, and I know it.

ترا افسون چشمانم ز ره برده ست و میدانم

Why do you vainly say, “I have a heart like iron”?

چرا بیهوده می گویی دل چون آهنی دارم

You do not know, you do not know that, besides enchanting eyes,

نمیدانی نمیدانی که من جز چشم افسونگر

in this cup of my lips I have a wine that fells men.

در این جام لبانم باده مرد افکنی دارم

Why do you vainly try to escape my embrace?

چرا بیهوده میکوشی که بگریزی ز آغوشم

You will never find an embrace more burning than this.

از این سوزنده تر هرگز نخواهی یافت آغوشی

Are you not afraid, not afraid, not afraid that they will write your name

نمیترسی نمیترسی نمیترسی که بنویسند نامت را

upon the dark stone of a grave, one sorrowful, silent night?

به سنگ تیره گوری شب غمناک خاموشی

Come, the world is not worth this abstinence and this distance.

بیا دنیا نمی ارزد به این پرهیز و این دوری

Sacrifice this dream of existence to a moment of joy.

فدای لحظه ای شادی کن این رویای هستی را

Place your lips upon mine, for from this cup full of wine,

لبت را بر لبم بگذار کز این ساغر پر می

I shall make you so drunk that you yourself will know the worth of intoxication.

چنان مستت کنم تا خود بدانی قدر مستی را

The enchantment of my eyes has led you astray, and I know

ترا افسون چشمانم ز ره برده است و میدانم

that from head to toe you burn with the fire of a sick desire.

که سر تا پا به سوز خواهشی بیمار میسوزی

If this is a lie, then those two secret-telling eyes of yours—

دروغ است این اگر پس آن دو چشم راز گویت را

why do you fix them, at every moment, upon my mad eyes?

چرا هر لحظه بر چشم من دیوانه می دوزی
