01

If I were God, one night I would call out to the angels,

02

to cast the coin of the sun into the furnace of darkness.

03

Angrily, I would tell the servants of the world's garden

04

to detach the yellow leaf of the moon from the branch of nights.

05

At midnight, within the curtains of the court of my majesty,

06

the fingers of my roaring anger would overturn the world.

07

My weary hands, after thousands of years of silence,

08

would pour the mountains into the open mouths of seas.

09

I would unfasten the bonds from the feet of thousands of feverish stars.

10

I would scatter the blood of fire into the silent veins of forests.

11

I would tear the curtains of smoke, so that in the roaring wind,

12

the daughter of fire might dance drunkenly in the embrace of forests.

13

I would blow into the enchanting flute of the evening wind,

14

so that rivers rose from their beds like thirsty snakes,

15

weary of a lifetime gliding upon a moist breast,

16

and poured into the dark marsh of the night sky.

17

Softly, I would tell the winds to set, upon the feverish river,

18

the intoxicated little boat of the red fragrance of flowers afloat.

19

I would open the graves, so that thousands of wandering souls

20

might once more conceal themselves within the fortress of bodies.

21

If I were God, one night I would call out to the angels,

22

to boil the waters of Kawthar within the pitcher of hell.

23

With a burning torch in hand, the flock of the pious

24

they would drive out of the pasture of green-skirted paradise.

25

Weary of divine asceticism, at midnight, in Satan's bed,

26

upon the slope of a fresh transgression, I would seek a refuge.

27

In exchange for the golden crown of divinity, I would choose

28

the dark and painful pleasure of the embrace of a sin.
