01

The sky, like the page of my heart,

02

is bright with the splendours of moonlight.

03

Tonight I flee from pleasant sleep,

04

for the thought of you is sweeter than sleep.

05

Gazing at the wild shadows of the willow,

06

I creep into the silence of my bed.

07

Again, in search of a melody I desire,

08

I lay my head upon my notebook.

09

The bodies of a hundred songs dance

10

within the delicate crystal of my voice.

11

An unfamiliar pleasure, coloured by dreams,

12

runs like blood through my veins.

13

Ah… it is as though, through the crypt of my heart,

14

the moon's night-wandering spirit has passed,

15

or a breeze, upon this abandoned road,

16

has moistened its skirts with the fragrance of jasmine.

17

Upon my lips, the flames of your kiss

18

blossom like the warm tulip of longing.

19

Within my imagination, a star full of light

20

shines amid a halo of mystery.

21

A stranger within my breast

22

runs fingers over harp and lute.

23

Along with the stranger's measured melodies,

24

it is as though the scent of incense arrives.

25

Ah… I cannot believe that I

26

could have such a union with you,

27

that the gaze of those two passion-stirring eyes

28

could turn toward me, warm and enchanting.

29

Surely, from that world of dreams,

30

Venus has cast upon me the gaze of love.

31

I write upon the page of my notebook,

32

“May you be everlasting, O dawn of love.”
