01

We were asleep, and the ray of sunlight

02

crept softly over us from head to toe.

03

Upon the veranda's tiles, the hand of light

04

swiftly drew our shadows.

05

The colourful wave of the horizon had no end.

06

The sky was filled with the fragrance of day.

07

Around us, it was as though the silk of clouds

08

had cast a blue, morning-glory-coloured curtain.

09

“I love you,” silent and weary of soul,

10

slipped once more across my lips.

11

But it was as though, in the silence of midday,

12

my voice disappeared in its futility.

13

I cried, “Sun… O sun,

14

shine no longer upon a withered flower.”

15

We were thirsty, and he deceived us

16

like a mirage in the desert of life.

17

Into the lines of his face there suddenly crept

18

the shadows of his hidden longing.

19

The sun seized my hair.

20

The sky slipped into his eyes.

21

Ah… I wish that moment had had no ending.

22

We would have vanished and been laid bare in one another's sorrow.

23

I wish we had mingled with the sun.

24

I wish we had taken on the colour of the horizons.
