01

Night, like the moon of the mysterious sky,

02

slowly wraps the silk of mystery around itself.

03

He, like a bird weary of flight,

04

settles upon the dry tree of my imagination.

05

The branches tremble with longing.

06

Within their silent veins, slowly there boils

07

the blood of a distant memory.

08

Life rises like a wild tulip

09

from the crack in a grave.

10

From the earth, the hand of a cold breeze

11

sweeps the dry leaves away in anger.

12

Ah… upon the hard wall of my breast, it is as though

13

a stranger pounds a fist.

14

“Open the door… it is he.

اوست

15

Open the door… it is he.”

16

I say softly to myself,

17

“Another dream,

18

and one so dark and tangled.

19

With the bitter medicine of sleep,

20

I must at last soothe the wound of waking.”

21

I press my weary eyelids together.

22

But upon the hard wall of my breast, angrily,

23

a stranger pounds a fist.

24

“Open the door… it is he.

25

Open the door… it is he.

26

He has gathered up his skirts from that distant land,

27

and impatiently traversed the plains.

28

For days he has danced in the fire of the sun;

29

at midnight, like a silent flower,

30

he has grown in the silence of the moonlight's shore.

31

Open the door… it is he.

32

He has roamed the skies in search of you.

33

Weary and restless upon his road,

34

he has breathed the scent of jasmines with the scent of love.

35

His weary wings, in their ardent struggle,

36

every passing breeze has kissed with tenderness.

37

Open the door… it is he.

38

Open the door… it is he.”

39

A tear of longing settles upon my gaze.

40

The colour of darkness runs into the colour of my sigh.

41

But I say in anger,

42

“Another dream,

43

and one so dark and tangled.

44

With the bitter medicine of sleep,

45

I must at last soothe the wound of waking.”

46

I press my weary eyelids together.
