01

If tomorrow did not come along,

02

I would stay beside you forever.

03

Forever I would sing the song of my love

04

in the sunshine of your love.

05

Behind the panes of your room,

06

that night had a cold, black gaze.

07

The corridor of your eyes, within the darkness,

08

seemed to have a passage into the depths of your soul.

09

Into the mist of the mirror had slipped

10

our image, broken and without harmony.

11

Your hair was the colour of a wheat stalk;

12

my hair was curved and pitch-black.

13

A secret burned within my breast.

14

I wanted it to speak with you.

15

But my voice fell short of the knot.

16

Nothing grows in the shadow of a bush.

17

From there, my weary gaze took wing,

18

and circled, troubled, around my body.

19

Within the border of a golden frame,

20

Christ's eyes smiled upon my sorrow.

21

I saw that the room was disordered and confused.

22

At my feet your book had fallen.

23

My hairpins, there,

24

had fallen upon your bed.

25

From the crystal house of the fish,

26

the sound of water came no longer.

27

What was your old cat thinking,

28

whose eyes could not find sleep?

29

Once more, my troubled gaze

30

returned toward you, mute and weary.

31

I wanted it to speak with you,

32

but it remained silent before you.

33

Then the white stars of tears

34

twinkled in the night of my eyelashes.

35

I saw that your hands, like a cloud,

36

came toward my bewildered face.

37

I saw that the warm wing of your breaths

38

had brushed against my cold neck.

39

It was as though a lost breeze wound

40

through the wild bushes of my pain.

41

A hand poured within my breast

42

the lead of silence and the seeds of stillness.

43

I, weary of this pain-filled struggle,

44

went toward the city of forgetfulness.

45

I forgot the sorrow of tomorrow.

46

I said that departure had been a bitter tale.

47

Suddenly, over my life there spread

48

that golden, fragrant moment.

49

That night, from your lips, I drank

50

the joyful songs of nature.

51

That night, into the mouth of my love you scattered,

52

from that kiss, the drop of eternity.
