01

The long shadow of the clock's pendulum

02

was swinging over the endless desert:

03

it came, it went.

04

It came, it went.

05

And upon the desert's bright sands,

06

I was drawing the image of my brief dream,

07

a dream that had drunk the heat of hell,

08

and in whose air my life melted.

09

A dream that, when it ended,

10

brought me to my own end.

11

I was drawing the image of my dream,

12

and my eyes had lost the clock pendulum's motion in their own bewilderment.

13

How could one pour into this image's spaceless veins

14

all the warmth of last night's dream?

15

I drew my image.

16

Something was lost.

17

I bent over myself:

18

a hollow opened its mouth in my being.

19

The long shadow of the clock's pendulum

20

was swinging over the endless desert,

21

and I stood beside the living image of my dream,

22

an image whose veins beat in eternity,

23

and in whose warp and weft the root of my gaze burned.

24

This time,

این بار

25

when the shadow of the clock's pendulum

26

passed over my image, now come to life,

27

there was nothing upon the desert's bright sands.

28

I cried:

29

give back the image!

30

And my voice settled like a handful of dust.

31

The long shadow of the clock's pendulum

32

was swinging over the endless desert:

33

it came, it went.

34

It came, it went.

35

And a human gaze ran after it.
