ANOTHER BIRTH · POEM 6 OF 31
The Wind Will Carry Us
English translation draft, awaiting review.
01In my little night, alas,
02the wind has a rendezvous with the leaves of the trees.
03In my little night, there is the dread of ruin.
05do you hear the blowing of darkness?
06Like a stranger, I look upon this happiness.
07I am addicted to my despair.
09do you hear the blowing of darkness?
10Something is passing in the night now.
11The moon is red and troubled.
12And upon this roof, which at every moment threatens to collapse,
13the clouds, like a throng of mourners,
14seem to await the moment of rain.
16and after that, nothing.
17Behind this window, night is trembling,
18and the earth is
19falling behind in its turning.
20Behind this window, an unknown thing
21is anxious for you and me.
22O you, green from head to toe,
23place your hands, like a burning memory, within my loving hands,
24and entrust your lips, like a warm sense of existence,
25to the caresses of my loving lips.
26The wind will carry us.
27The wind will carry us.
