01

Forgive him,

02

him who, from time to time,

03

forgets the painful bond of his existence

04

with stagnant waters

05

and empty hollows,

06

and foolishly imagines

07

that he has the right to live.

08

Forgive him,

09

the indifferent anger of a picture,

10

in whose paper eyes the distant desire for movement

11

melts away.

12

Forgive him,

13

him throughout whose coffin

14

the red current of the moon passes,

15

and the troubled fragrances of night

16

leave the thousand-year sleep of his limbs

17

unsettled.

18

Forgive him,

19

him who is shattered within,

20

yet the skin of whose eyes still burns at the thought of particles of light,

21

and whose futile hair

22

trembles hopelessly at the penetration of love's breaths.

23

O dwellers in the simple land of happiness,

24

O companions of windows opened in the rain,

25

forgive him,

26

forgive him,

27

for he is enchanted,

28

for it is the roots of your fruitful existence

29

that tunnel within the soils of his exile,

30

and make his credulous heart,

31

with the insidious strokes of longing,

32

swell in the corner of his breast.
