01

Tonight, from the sky of your eyes,

02

stars rain upon my poem.

03

In the white silence of the pages,

04

my fingers sow sparks.

05

My mad, feverish poem,

06

ashamed of the furrows of desire,

07

has its body burned once more

08

by the everlasting thirst of fires.

09

Yes, it is the beginning of loving,

10

though the end of the road is unseen.

11

I shall think no longer of the end,

12

for this loving itself is beautiful.

13

Why shrink from darkness?

14

The night is full of diamond drops.

15

What remains of the night

16

is the intoxicating fragrance of jasmine.

17

Ah, let me lose myself in you,

18

so no one finds a trace of me.

19

Let the burning spirit of my moist sigh

20

blow upon the body of my song.

21

Ah, let me, through this open window,

22

lying within the silk of dreams,

23

set out with wings of light,

24

and pass beyond the walls of worlds.

25

Do you know what I want from life?

26

To be you—you, you from head to toe.

27

If life were lived a thousand times,

28

you once again, you once again.

29

What lies hidden within me is a sea.

30

How could I have the strength to conceal it?

31

Of this fearsome storm, to you

32

I wish I had the strength to speak.

33

I am so full of you that I want

34

to run amid the deserts,

35

to dash my head against the mountain's rock,

36

to dash my body against the waves of seas.

37

I am so full of you that I want

38

to fall away from myself like dust,

39

to lay my head quietly beneath your feet,

40

to cling to your light shadow.

41

Yes, it is the beginning of loving,

42

though the end of the road is unseen.

43

I shall think no longer of the end,

44

for this loving itself is beautiful.
