On the river of terror, I am a trembling leaf.

به روی شط وحشت برگی لرزانم

Let your root hang down.

ریشه‌ات را بیاویز.

I passed beyond sounds.

من از صداها گذشتم.

I abandoned light.

روشنی را رها کردم.

The dream of a key fell from my hand.

رؤیای کلید از دستم افتاد.

I lay down beside the road of time.

کنار راه زمان دراز کشیدم.

The stars trembled in the coldness of my veins.

ستاره‌ها در سردی رگ‌هایم لرزیدند.

The earth throbbed.

خاک تپید.

The air rippled.

هوا موجی زد.

The grasses heard the falling of dreams in my eyes:

علف‌ها ریزش رؤیا را در چشمانم شنیدند:

you grew between the two hands of my longing.

میان دو دست تمنایم روییدی.

You seeped into me.

در من تراویدی.

I heard the dark melody of your form:

آهنگ تاریک اندامت را شنیدم:

‘I am neither sound

«نه صدایم

nor light.

و نه روشنی.

I am the resonance of your loneliness.

طنین تنهایی تو هستم.

The resonance of your darkness.’

طنین تاریکی تو.»

You heard my silence:

سکوتم را شنیدی:

‘Like a breeze, I shall rise from myself;

«بسان نسیمی از روی خودم برخواهم خاست؛

I shall open the doors.

درها را خواهم گشود.

I shall blow through the everlasting night.’

در شب جاویدان خواهم وزید.»

You opened your eyes:

چشمانت را گشودی:

night descended into me.

شب در من فرود آمد.
