ایوان تهی است. و باغ از یاد مسافر سرشار.

در دره آفتاب. سر برگرفته‌ای:

beside your pillow, the shade-casting willow has fallen.

کنار بالش تو, بید سایه‌فکن از پا درآمده است.

You are far away, farther than the far side of the poppy.

دوری. تو از آن سوی شقایق دوری.

In the glare of the bushes, where is the shadow of a smile to pass?

در خیرگی بوته‌ها؛ کو سایه لبخندی که گذر کند؟

Through the cleft of thought, where is a breeze to enter?

از شکاف اندیشه. کو نسیمی که درون آید؟

The river's pebble slips over your cheek.

سنگریزه رود، بر گونه تو می‌لغزد.

The dew of the distant forest steals your face.

شبنم جنگل دور. سیمای تو را می‌رباید.

They have stolen you from yourself, and this solitude is deep.

تو را از تو ربوده‌اند، و این تنهایی ژرف است.

You weep, and wander in the byway of a murmur.

می‌گریی. و در بیراهه زمزمه‌ای سرگردان می‌شوی.
