01The red of sunset has spilled
02here and there upon the stones.
03The mountain is silent.
04The river roars.
05In the lap of the plain remains
06a harvest of dusky blue.
07Shadow has mingled with shadow.
08Stone has bound itself to stone.
09The worn-out day passes along the road.
10Appearing in its eyes is
11the image of sorrow after a smile.
12The owl calls upon the battlements.
13The vultures, heavily,
14come down from the air, one by one:
15a carcass remains upon the plain.
16A beak has torn out its eyes;
17beneath its forehead
18two dusky hollows remain.
19Darkness is coming.
20The plain grows quiet.
21The colorful story of the day
22is drawing to its end.
23The branches are withered.
24The stones are dispirited.
25The river moans.
26The owl calls.
27Sorrow has mingled with sunset's color.
28A cold tale seeps from my lips:
29my heart is weary in this narrow dusk.
