روشنی، من، گل، آب

There is no cloud.

ابری نیست.

There is no wind.

بادی نیست.

I sit beside the pool:

می‌نشینم لب حوض:

the fishes' turning, brightness, I, flower, water.

گردش ماهی‌ها. روشنی. من گل: آب.

The purity of life's cluster.

پاکی خوشه زیست.

My mother picks basil.

مادرم ریحان می‌چیند.

Bread and basil and cheese, a cloudless sky, wet petunias.

نان و ریحان و پنیر، آسمانی بی‌ابر، اطلسی‌هایی تر.

Salvation is near, among the courtyard flowers.

رستگاری نزدیک: لای گل‌های حیاط.

Into the copper bowl, what caresses light pours!

نور در کاسه مس، چه نوازش‌ها می‌ریزد!

The ladder from the high wall's top brings morning to the earth.

نردبان از سر دیوار بلند. صبح را روی زمین می‌آرد.

Everything hidden behind a smile.

پشت لبخندی پنهان هرچیز.

Time's wall has an opening through which my face is visible.

روزنی دارد دیوار زمان، که از آن، چهره من پیداست.

There are things I do not know.

چیزهایی هست، که نمی‌دانم.

I know: if I uproot a blade of grass, I shall die.

می‌دانم؛ سبزه‌ای را بکنم خواهم مر د.

I go up to the heights; I am full of wings and feathers.

می‌روم بالا تا اوج. من پر از بال و پرم.

I see a road in darkness; I am full of lanterns.

راه می‌بینم در ظلمت، من پر از فانوسم.

I am full of light and sand,

من پر از نورم و شن

and full of trees.

و پر از دار و درخت.

I am full of road, of bridge, of river, of wave.

پرم از راه، از پل، از رود، از موج.

I am full of a leaf's shadow in water:

پرم از سایه برگی در آب:

how alone my inwardness is.

چه درونم تنهاست.
