went to the hilltop of the poppy's ascent.

به سر تپه معراج شقایق رفتند.

Behind the land of nothingness, the umbrella of desire is open:

پشت هیچستان. چتر خواهش باز است:

so the breeze of a thirst may run at the base of a leaf.

تا نسیم عطشی در بن برگی بدود.

The rain's bell rings out.

زنگ باران به صدا می‌آید.

Here a person is alone,

آدم اینجا تنهاست

and in this solitude an elm's shadow flows into eternity.

و در این تنهایی. سایهٌ نارونی تا ابدیت جاری است.

If you come looking for me,

به سراغ من اگر می‌آیید.

come softly and slowly, lest you crack

نرم و آهسته بیایید. مبادا که ترک بردارد.

the thin porcelain of my solitude.

چینی نازک تنهایی من.
