Behind the pine grove, snow.

پشت کاجستان، برف

Snow, a flock of crows.

برف. یک دسته کلاغ.

Road means estrangement.

جاده یعنی غربت.

Wind, song, traveler, and a little desire for sleep.

باد، آواز، مسافر، و کمی میل به خواب.

An ivy branch, arriving, the courtyard.

شاخ پیچک، و رسیدن، و حیاط.

I, sad, and this wet pane.

من، و دلتنگ، و این شیشه خیس.

I write, and space.

می‌نویسم. و فضا.

I write, and two walls, and several sparrows.

می‌نویسم، و دو دیوار، و چندین گنجشک.

Someone is sad.

یک نفر دلتنگ است.

Someone weaves.

یک نفر می‌بافد.

Someone counts.

یک نفر می‌شمرد.

Someone sings.

یک نفر می‌خواند.

Life means: a starling flew.

زندگی یعنی: یک سار پرید.

What made you sad?

از چه دلتنگ شدی؟

There is no shortage of delights: this sun, for instance,

دلخوشی‌ها کم نیست: مثلا این خورشید.

the child of the day after tomorrow,

کودک پس‌فردا.

the dove of that week.

کفتر آن هفته.

Someone died last night,

یک نفر دیشب مرد

and still wheat bread is good.¹

و هنوز. نان گندم خوب است. ۱

And still water pours down, horses drink.

و هنوز, آب می‌ریزد پایین. اسب‌ها می‌نوشند..

Drops flowing,

قطره‌ها در جریان،

snow upon silence's shoulder,

برف بر دوش سکوت

and time upon the backbone of the jasmine flower.

و زمان روی ستون فقرات گل یاس.
